Avionics
Cooling Systems
On aircraft, avionics are
located all over the place! Commercial aircraft manufacturers locate
the majority of their avionics in accessable and logical locations,
making avionics cooling a relatively straight forward task.
On military aircraft the
avionics tend to be located, broadly speaking, wherever there is
space, leading to avionics cooling solutions that require innovative
thought.
At RFT Systems we’ve
covered both the analysis side of things and the systems engineering
aspects on both Commercial and Military Aircraft
Analysis: In general we will
start with a steady state thermal analysis to establish a worst case
cooling scenario. This will then be developed as the program matures
to include pressure drop calculations and avionic bay temperatures
across a range of flight scenarios, with different altitudes,
aircraft speed, engine settings etc.
Systems Engineering: From
creating initial draft requirements specifications, through
equipment contract negotiations, to full system verification and
acceptance.
