Cabin Conditioning and
Environmental Control Systems
Keeping the temperature of
an aircraft cabin to levels acceptable to the flying public is
critical to a successful aircraft project. Ensuring that enough
external air is brought into the cabin, at an acceptable quality for
breathing, is a certification requirement. Establishing the heating
and cooling requirements during various operating conditions can be
complicated and time consuming, even before the systems engineering
aspects are considered. Over the years RFT Systems have been
involved in many such projects and recently decided to develop a
dedicated suite of software tools for calculating cabin temperatures
throughout any flight profile. This has not only saved us time in
the development of systems solutions, but has also directly impacted
on aircraft performance, through optimising systems, hence reducing
power demand, lowering weight and creating a more stable thermal
environment within the cabin.
